Default Abridged Main Story Line "Quests"

I'm not sure exactly how to say it without sounding like I want to be spoonfed, but here goes.

I've gone through nightfall 3 times(for various reasons). And I probably wouldn't have hated it except for the fact that there is just an enourmous amount of running. I swear you spend more time running around, than actual fighting. It's just so blisteringly boring, and time consuming.

I don't exactly have a problem with these quests, if I have to do them just once. But its the same boring running every time you do the main story line.

I would like to just be able to go to the next mission, like in prophecies. I dont care if i have to run there. I kinda enjoy doing the mission's but if theres like an hour and a half of running in between each, it gets really boring.

Maybe they should have an abridged story line for those who have already beaten the game once. You do quests that only require running to the next mission.

Just an idea, it might need refining.

Have you played factions??

Go try the fedex quests...that will do your head in.

Ive not really noticed that I am running around for the length of time you are saying. Unless of course you are not using map travel. It happened to me first time i played GW and ran everywhere, until someone taught me map travel.

I don't understand why you are running so much.

I suppose anet made this more realistic in the fact that you don't whip off to somewhere after a mission. but you get a quest to go from A to B and kill things along the way, do a mission, etcetc but you dont end up back in the mission start....do you? i cant remember if thats right

I don't think it's all that much if you know where you're going. If you've done it three times, you know exactly where you need to go. Just following primary quests and missions is actually pretty short. Unless you need to lvl to 20 where you'll need to run all over the place doing quests.

Prophecies actually takes a lot longer to travel around, both cause its a big continent with large distances, and also cause a lot of the game is full of popups. Desert, jungle, scarabs pop out, and spiders drop down and windriders just glide past. Annoying.

Though if you just get run to LA-sanctum cay, or ascalon-beacons-droks-thk, then yes, prophecies is much shorter and quicker to finish.

Primary quests don't really take that long, though. Where are your extra hours of obligatory gameplay coming from? If you've been picking up bounties the whole time, you won't need to farm any sunspear points for title-related primaries like And A Hero Shall Lead Them.

It's also worth noting that they put in certain timesinks to prevent people from hiring a power-leveler, blazing through the campaign in a small amount of time, and harvesting a buttload of endgame goods.

As Bithor said, if you don't want to run around, don't even think about picking up secondary quests in Wajjun (sp?) Bazaar.

I'd really like a feature similar to this. All I'd really need from this is that, once you've beaten a campaign, all the quest-locked doors for that campaign are opened on your account. To prevent endgame item harvesting, perhaps allow the NPCs give out the endgame items only if all the primary quests were finished in addition to the missions. Armor would also have to be managed, but I wouldn't see anything wrong with just a mission requirement. (No more Consulate Docks ferries for armor?! :P )

Of course, I wouldn't see any problems with just letting players map to places instead of having to run, if they met the requirements, seeing as how that would only be cutting legwork out of the deal and they wouldn't really be able to abuse armor or anything. I hope I'm not forgetting anything when I say that.
